Growing Instructions
Garden Kit Instructions:
Before planting:
For best results soak seed paper in water overnight.
1. Each Garden Kit box comes with a stamped poem to encourage self-love and growth alongside your plant. Read your poem aloud!
2. Gather your materials:
Items included in your kit:
- biodegradable pot
- soil
- seed paper
- spoon
- terracotta dish
Additional items:
- Water
Tip: Consider covering your planting area with a material you don’t mind getting dirty.
3. Place the biodegradable pot on top of the terracotta dish.
4. Add 3/4 of the soil to the biodegradable pot. Be mindful that there is a hole in the bottom of the pot for drainage.
5. Place the seed paper on top of the soil.
Disclaimer: Some seeds may dislodge from the seed paper during shipping or handling. Please check the envelope for loose seeds and sprinkle them on top of your seed paper.
6. Wet the seed paper generously.
7. Lightly sprinkle the remaining soil on top of your seed paper.
Tip: If there are any clumps of soil or sticks on top of your seed paper, gently remove them.
8. Top off your plant with water.
9. Follow the box-cutting instructions video (coming soon) below to create a tray.
10. Place your plant near a sunny window.
Care Instructions:
Water your plant every 3-4 days, allowing the water to drain out of the bottom of the pot.
The soil and pot should be fully dry before watering again.
Tip: If the plant starts to wither, try bottom watering. Fill a large dish with water and gently place your pot in the dish. Leave for about 30 minutes. Remove the pot from the water and leave it on the provided terracotta dish to dry.
Tip: Do not leave your pot sitting in the water that has drained out of the hole in the bottom of your pot.
Harvesting Instructions:
Microgreens:
Once the leaves on your sprouts are fully opened, they are ready to harvest. Microgreens are ready to harvest in one to two weeks. To harvest, you can pull the sprouts from the root or snip the sprouts about an inch down from the leaves. Wash and enjoy.
Catnip:
Catnip can be enjoyed by your cat in a variety of ways. Your cat may enjoy catnip fresh, dried, or steeped in a tea. To harvest, you can pull a few sprouts from the root or snip the sprouts about an inch down from the leaves.
Catnip should be enjoyed in moderation. A little goes a long way.
Cat Grass:
Cat grass can be given to your cat fresh from the pot. For extra stability, keep the pot in the box tray.
